Pastor’s Notepad: Feb. 19, 2012

This past week I read about a Baptist church in Alabama whose members are doing ‘hands on’ mission work among the Kababe Malinke people of Guinea, Africa. They’re laboring to expand God’s glory and fame to every corner of their city and every continent on the planet. That phrase would be a good theme for Feb. 2012 here at Rocky Mountain. Last Saturday we got our new soul winning program, The Joy Ministry, off the ground and 6 precious souls were saved through the ministry here last week. I am still in awe of a God that does ‘exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.’ Now that The Joy Ministry has been implemented, we are going to direct more of our attention toward the 2012 Mission Conference that starts on Feb. 29. Sunday morning we will distribute a conference brochure with the testimonies and prayer requests of the missionary families that will be with us for the conference. The brochure will assist in getting to know a little bit about each of the missionaries before they arrive and help us to better pray for the conference. Sunday morning I will preach from Acts. 17:16-31.  We will take a look at, What’s Behind a Mission Movement? On Sunday night I plan to preach on The Great Commission from Luke 24:46-53. Church, let’s be sure and extend a warm welcome to any guests that God brings our way and let them know they are among friends at Rocky Mountain. Bible Baptist Church.

I want to thank everyone that attended the Joy Ministry breakfast, especially those who made commitments to get involved. In spite of all else we accomplish as a church, if we are not reaching lost souls for Christ in our city and around the world we cannot fulfill our calling, commission, and purpose as a New Testament church. I hope you will join me in praying for the Joy Ministry to bring forth fruit unto God as we labor together to win souls.

Looking ahead, our 2012 Mission Conference is fast approaching. I want to say thank you in advance to the folks that have signed up to help with preparations for the conference that begins Wed. Feb. 29. This year’s theme is Let the Nations be Glad, and Bro. Dave Hardy will be our main speaker. Four other missionary families will be joining us for the conference. The Unruhs serving in Sri Lanka, the Reinholds serving in Mexico, the Taylors going to Germany, and the Martinez family planting a church in Louisville, CO will be with us for the conference. Let’s pray for a good attendance, God’s anointing on the meetings and a faith promise offering that will honor the Lord.

Sunday morning I will be preaching on the 7th Bowl Judgment from Rev. 16:17-21. The title for the message is The End of the World. In the 6:00 pm service I will be preaching from Pro. 16:27-28 on Schemers and Grumblers. If you are thinking about visiting our services this Lord’s day we would be very glad to meet you and do our best to welcome you to our church.

Next Saturday, Feb. 11 is the launch date for our new outreach program, The Joy Ministry. I want to encourage all of our members to sign up and be here for the breakfast next Saturday morning. Along with enjoying a great morning meal, we’ll show you how you can get involved in the Joy Ministry and then, weather permitting we’ll go out together and canvass a neighborhood. Don’t miss it; we’re going to have a great time!

Also, we are just three and half weeks away from our 2012 Mission Conference. Please be praying much for the conference and make plans to be here for every service. Missions is the heartbeat of God and mission conference is the most important week of the year for our church. The conference starts on Wed. Feb. 29 and concludes with our Faith Promise Sunday on March 4. Next week we’ll introduce you to each of the five missionary families that will be with us for this year’s conference.

This Sunday morning I will be preaching on “The Battle of Armageddon” from Rev. 16:12-16. If you’re looking for a place to attend church I invite you to come and be with us this Sunday.  I trust you will be blessed by the spirit of our people, the presence of the Lord, and the preaching of the Word.

This Sunday morning Bro. Tim Tenbrink, his wife Mandy and son Timothy will be in our services. The Tenbrinks are on deputation preparing to serve as church planters on the field of Uruguay. We will combine all adult and youth Sunday school classes and Bro. Tim will teach the lesson. The Tenbrinks will show a visual presentation of the work God has called them to and Bro. Tim will also preach in the morning service. It’s always an honor to have missionaries with us.

We will take a few minutes at the end of the morning service to hand out the Joy Ministry handbooks and say a few things about this new outreach ministry. Right after the service we will convene our annual business meeting. For the evening service we will be in Pro. 16:7-9 preaching, “The Providence of God Pt. 3.” I want to encourage our members to extend a warm welcome to the Tenbrinks and all of our guests that join us for the services this coming Lord’s Day.

We had a great week at the National Church Planting Conference at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City. The hospitality of the Heartland family and the Southwest Baptist Church was a wonderful blessing, as always. The meeting testified to the faithfulness of Jesus’ promise in Mt. 16:18, “Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.” Over a hundred men that have planted new churches in the past few years or will be planting a church in 2012 attended the meetings along with hundreds of pastors from established churches all over the country. We heard great preaching on church planting, great testimonies of God’s enabling, and saw just under $300,000 given or committed to men that are pioneering new works all over America. Thank the Lord for ordinary folks that give cheerfully, faithfully and sacrificially to get the work of the church done.

Sunday morning we will see from the message of Rev. 15:1-4 that the work of God’s elect people, which in this present age applies to New Testament churches, is to make the message of God’s grace known to all men. The title for the morning message is “When the Truth is Made Known.” Sunday night we will be in Pro. 16:1-9 preaching on “The Providence of God.”

If you are new to our area, planning to visit the Front Range, have been recently saved and want to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, or have been out of church for a while and you know in your heart it is time to get back in church, I invite you to come to Rocky Mountain Bible Baptist. You’ll find a warm welcome and good spirit in our services.

Last Sunday I introduced our theme for 2012, “For Your Joy,” proving from the Scriptures that a joyful ministry is also a fruitful ministry. This Sunday morning I plan to follow up on the theme of joyful ministry with a message from Luke 10:17-34 on The Soul-winner’s Joy. In this chapter, the joy of the 70 is connected to Jesus’ Parable of the Good Samaritan.  The chapter teaches that soul winners reap a harvest of joy when they obey the command to go, care, and give.  In the course of the message I will introduce a new comprehensive soul winning and outreach program for our church called the Joy Ministry. Preparations are being made to launch the program on Saturday, Feb. 11. You’ll be hearing more about the Joy Ministry and the strategic place it will have at Rocky Mountain Bible Baptist Church as we move into the future. Sunday night we will be back in the Proverbs with a message from 15:13-17 on The Things that Keep Our Heart Healthy.

If you are looking for a church with a good spirit, where Bible preaching is held in high regard, and where the preeminence of Christ matters I invite you to join us for services this weekend.

Pastor’s Notepad: Jan. 1, 2012

I want to invite you to spend the first Lord’s Day of 2012 with us at Rocky Mountain. Bible Baptist. The beginning of a new year is a good time to do a little reflection and take stock of where we are in our walk with the Lord and where we need to improve. It is a good time to thank the Lord for the victories of the past year and to leave our defeats where they belong: in the past and under the blood. Today we have a clean slate, a new start, a fresh beginning. I encourage you to make this a year that you spend time in prayer and in the Bible every day, spend every Lord’s Day in church, honor the Lord with the first fruits of your substance, and tell others what the Lord has done for you! Why not start today?

This Sunday morning I will be preaching from John 15:1-13. I will introduce our theme for 2012 with the message, All Things ‘For Your Joy.’  With God’s enabling, 2012 can be a year that we increase God’s joy in the lives of others all around us. Paul wrote to the church at Corinth that he cared more about being a ‘helper of their joy’ than ‘lording’ his authority over them. His desire to help others experience full joy was a key factor in the fruitfulness of his ministry. Having that same desire to be an instrument of joy in the lives of others will honor God and increase our own fruitfulness in the work. God has been good to give us the beginning of another year to serve Him. Let’s start out right by purposing in our hearts to make the most of it by doing all things, ‘for your joy.’
